GLULAM
Glulam is a structural timber product comprising multiple layers of dimensioned timber bonded together with structural adhesive. Glulam members can be manufactured from a variety of smaller trees harvested from second- and third-growth forests, and provides the strength and versatility of large wood members without relying on old-growth solid-sawn timbers. Glulam allows for longer spans, heavier loads, and complex shapes. It is two-thirds the weight of steel and one-sixth the weight of concrete.
RMTS sources and supplies Glulams from multiple reputable suppliers, in Douglas Fir, Alaskan Yellow Cedar and other species.

CLT (Cross Laminated Timber)
CLT is the latest in engineered wood products and represents the forefront of sustainable construction. CLT panels consist of layers of perpendicular laminated timber layers that can be used for walls, floors and ceilings, and is strong and rigid enough to replace steel and concrete in multi-story buildings.
Using CNC machinery, CLT panels can be cut to the precise dimensions in the architectural plans, including window, door, plumbing and ventilation openings. Channels for electrical wiring can also be cut into the panels.
Construction using CLT panels tends to be cheaper and more environmentally friendly than other materials. It is also lighter than concrete and steel and requires less foundational support. Construction with CLT is faster than with traditional materials and creates minimal job-site waste/noise. CLT is a renewable resource that uses far less energy to manufacture compared to steel and concrete – it also acts as a carbon sink by sequestering CO2 absorbed during growth. CLT is completely recyclable after the useful life of the building.
RMTS sources and supplies CLT panels from multiple reputable suppliers in North America and Europe. For CLT fabrication options, click here.
